The 2016 Ford F-150 is available in six trim levels: XL, XLT, LARIAT, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Every trim level is available with the standard 4x2 wheel drive or optional 4x4 wheel drive.
The 2016 F-150 has a range of available engine options, including a 3.5-liter V6 flexible-fuel vehicle engine and a 5.0-liter V8 FFV engine, as well as two EcoBoost engine options. The base XL trim and the XLT are offered with all four of these engines, with the V6 FFV being standard. For the LARIAT, the 2.7-liter V6 engine is standard, while the King Ranch and Platinum come with the V8 FFV. The Limited trim is only offered with the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine.
The F-150 has two transmission options, the Electronic Six-Speed Transmission with Tow/Haul Mode available on the XL and XLT trims and the SelectShift Automatic Transmission with Progressive Range Select which is standard on all four of the higher trims.
The F-150’s class-leading fuel economy ranges from 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway to 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway in its most efficient engine.
The F-150’s towing and hauling capacity depends on the engine and drivetrain, with towing ranging from 7,600 lbs to 12,200 lbs. It has a max payload capacity of 3,270 lbs, with 1,660 lbs being the lowest.
The F-150 has three cab options: Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew. All three are offered in the first two trim level, while SuperCrew is the standard for the highest trims. All F-150s have convenient and stylish exterior features like daytime running lamps, halogen headlamps, an Easy Fuel capless filler, all-season or all-terrain tires depending on drivetrain, and black accents like a black grille, door handles, and front fascia. At higher trim levels, chrome and body color accents become available, as well as power-adjust side mirrors, dynamic hitch assist, LED lighting, and power-deployable running boards.
